WHAT DOES DiSC MEAN?

DiSC is an acronym reflective of the four main personality profiles describe in the DiSC model:

Dominance:

individuals tend to be more confident and place an emphasis on accomplishing bottom-line results.

Influence:

individuals tend to be more open and place an emphasis on relationships and influencing or persuading others.

Steadiness:

individuals tend to be dependable and place an emphasis on cooperation and sincerity.

Conscientiousness:

individuals tend to place an emphasis on quality , accuracy, expertise, and competence.
Everyone is a blend of the four profiles – one, two, or even three styles may stand out. No one style is better or worse than the other.

KAREN BROWN

,MBA, FACHE, SPHR, SHRM-SCP| Karen Brown has held a number of senior executive positions in healthcare and human resources. She is currently the director of human re-sources at Highland Community College, Freeport, IL. Prior to joining Highland, she served as Vice President, Operations, at OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, IL. Over her ca-reer, she has worked in healthcare, higher education, social services, manufacturing, and retail.

Karen has a Master of Business Administration degree from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois. She holds professional certifications: through the American College of Healthcare Executives, she is Fellow (FACHE); Society for Human Resource Management as a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP); Human Resource Certification Institute as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR); and Everything DiSC Certified.

Karen volunteers time on several community and professional association boards. She is chair of the board of the Friends of the Coronado; immediate past chair and Human Resource committee chair of the board for The Workforce Connection of Boone, Winnebago and Stephenson Counties; and chair of the board of the YWCA of Northwestern Illinois. She has volunteered for Transform Rockford and the Golden Apple Teacher Foundation. Karen has served in several human resource leadership positions on a local and statewide level and teaches human resource certification preparation classes through Northern Illinois University.

She has been honored with recognitions such as the YWCA Women of Achievement, 2016 Business Award, Crusader Community Health, 2015 Spirit of Caring Award, 2015 ACHE Senior Regent Award, and Rockford Chamber of Commerce, 2014 People You Should Know Award.
